Activity #24 Song Set

Maybe it's the advent of Spring that's making my muse run into weird directions and coming up with increasingly hard challenges... but we'll try something that used to be a staple in LJ iconmaking and that I haven't seen in over ten years:

Song sets!

A song set consists of icons with the lyrics of one song. Since it's a really old (i.e. extinct) thing, the only example icons I have are my own:


"I don't want to worry whether we're going to stay together until we die"
(Cake, "Love You Madly" lyrics)

In my set, I tried to make every single icon contain meaningful text, but that's definitely not a requirement.
I've never seen a set so large that it contained a whole song - but I won't stop you!
Apart from the text, the icons don't have to look the same or fit together in any other way.

Thanks to yourlibrarian, who made me look into songsets some more, I found another example set:

"I want a girl with a voice that is dark like tinted glass, I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket"

* Really the only rule is that the lyrics should be continuous within the song from one icon to the next.

* Every icon should contain at least one word.
* If you can't make a part of the lyrics work:
** not all words have to be readable!
** NEW: you can leave out short connecting words (like "and", "that",...)
* You can choose any song, or more than one song if you make more than one set.
* If you want to leave out parts of the lyrics, just make separate sets.

* This time there is a minimum of 2 icons: the smallest set is a set of two.
* You can make as many icons (and as many sets) as you like.
* Please link the song lyrics, and/or put the parts you used of them in your comment with your icons

* Please submit your icons (and URLs!) to this post, all in one comment (if possible).
* Everyone can participate, you don't have to be a member of this community.
* I will collect all the icons from the comments and make a result post
* Everyone can leave comments on the inspiration and activity result posts
* There is no voting

Oh man,I did it!!! So much trial and error and so many icons later,I did a Frozen set, A Bai Yu & Zhu Yilong and of course a Weilan set. I'm sorry, the colours in my first set are all so blue that the text isn't clear in some of them,but I really liked how the overall set came out. I got some new fonts and clearly, I'm obsessed!!!
Thanks to extrapenguin for the angst inspiration for the 2nd set. :D


Set 1:


Song is John Legend's 'All of me'.
Lyrics: Cause all of me/loves all of you/love your curves & all your edges/all your perfect imperfections/give your all to me/I'll give my all to you.

Set 2:

Song: All falls down by Oner.I'm in love with the beat and the tune of this song,one of the few Chinese pop groups I'm hoping will release more new songs!
Lyrics: Even when it all falls down/ we will be forever.

Set 3:

Song: When Dixing hits Haixing. Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong are too cute in this!
Lyrics: Trying so hard to make you happy/ Won't you give me a smile in response? The lyrics for this are a bit different in wording according to different translators though.

Set 4:

Song: When Dixing hits Haixing.
Lyrics: Sprinkle some sunshine/to illuminate your Dixing

oooooh myyyyy god. These are all awesome. *stares at them some more*

I love the Frozen set (and I think the text is totally fine, it doesn't matter if it's not instantly readable. At a closer look, it's all legible. And it fits into the overall look of the icons very well. And it's so cuuute!)

The Guardian Set is absolute perfection. The one on the second icon is one of my fave fonts, too. The levels are great, especially Shen Wei's face looks so stark in it it gives me shivers. The second one has great composition and I love the coloring and lighting, too. They're both perfect.

The Haixing/Dixing sets make me smile so much! I love the song, and I love the coloring you used for it, and they keep looking at each other. *squee*

I think I would like to grab that "We will be forever" icon, if I may?

I wanted to make each set have something similar in colouring,glad you like them!And YES,the Frozen one was such a happy accident.I got the caps for disney20in20 and saw an opportunity to use them!XD
That song is literally so happy and their face touching and cute looks,ugh,my heart! <3

okay I'm crying now over that second set. Wahhhhh! But so beautifully done. I love the composition for the second weilan icon SO MUCH.

MUahahaha!!That was my intention with the 1st icon in that set. XD
Thank youuuu,the 2nd icon took way too long to get just the right size of circle and text and curving things...yep,it was quite the process for me but it paid off!

Aw, they're beautiful! The blue works just fine in the Frozen set and the text is perfectly legible while the brightness of the others are a great contrast.
