We haven't had a straight-up technique challenge in a while! And I thought I'd make it a difficult one... :). Are you ready to challenge yourself?

Definition of chiaroscuro

1. pictorial representation in terms of light and shade without regard to color


2. the arrangement or treatment of light and dark parts in a pictorial work of art


3. the interplay of light and shadow on or as if on a surface


4. the quality of being veiled or partly in shadow

Ooooh wow I love the ZYL in the middle. What a great angle! I'm very fond of Shen Wei's expression in the fourth one, too. Chiaroscuro is the ideal way to bring out his lips! <3

Gorgeous set! I love how the light is contrasting with the darkness in the fifth icon, and I love how in the second icon she looks like she's coming out of the shadows. XD

I really like the first two - very mysterious! The blurry lighting in the fourth one gives it a really sensual feel that works extremely well with black and white. I very much love the "diva" emotion in the last one, too.

Slipping in near the last minute to throw a set of some favorite ladies in. I've been trying different techniques, so I combined a few in various icons. I hope they feel like a cohesive set despite that! This was a difficult challenge, but fun, I think! Thanks for running it!
