What has inspired you over the last 12 months? (techniques, subjects, challenges, other makers, etc.) Provide examples if you want.
I am always inspired by my current fandom, and then icon nothing else but that for a few months until the next one comes along.
I wouldn't bother if there weren't challenges, though. Of those I like inspirational challenges best, like
What's your favorite show and/or movie to icon and why? currently, Guardian. Because it's my current fandom. I don't need another reason, do I? :)
Who's your favorite character to icon and why? Zhu Yilong - not a character but an actor, and my reason is always the same: I like looking at my current crush.
Close crop or far-crop? Why? Mid- or far, mostly because I suck at close crop.
Vibrant or muted? Why? Vibrant! ... colors? Colors are my life.
Text or minimalistic? Why? Text. I think every icon should have text. ;) No maybe not... but I really think text is great, I just don't always manage to come up with the right one.
What's your current iconmaking goal? More text again. The last few months were so busy I made mostly emotional icons and didn't have the brain capacity to add text. Finally watching the rest of Guardian so I can icon it!

Text is great,alright but there's a lot of trial and error involved to find the right fit.

I've luckily dropped out of the constant loop that was tumblr, and I feel a lot better. Discord is similarly fast, but I love how much of the fandom is now on DW and that works really well for me.

I know myself - if I have a set prompt table and a far-away deadline, I'm going to fill every single prompt in the last three days before the deadline.

Mmh, good question. If I were to run a comm, I would do something where the format changes every month: battle, 20in20 round, multi-maker comm-style activity, etc.

That sounds amazing! I had the idea of redoing old challenges. The community used to be so big and there's so much stuff. I thought something like "a blast from the past" and then go round to 20 year old icon comms and use their challenges, one from a different comm every time. It sounds kinda unimaginative, and i guess some people might even call it stealing... I just think it would be so interesting to see popular old challenges again and see the wild mix of themes and how different the results would be today.

Just a single fandom, but there are so many different sites to follow, so many people, so many shows (with the same actors). I also volunteered for a lot of stuff, which I now always switch between. That is way more than I've done in other fandoms. I know the responsibilities will stay with me for at least half a year and I don't even know if I'll be able to finish any of the tasks. I love that it's this interactive, and I love donating my time, but it's still a lot. :D

Thank you! I have noticed a decline in text lately, and it has to do with the fact I have so many things to do. My brain just doesn't manage text on top of that.
