Maybe not embarrassing, but definitely dated:


-How many years have you spent in the hobby?
Nearly fifteen years.

-Do you make any other kinds of graphics?
I make a lot of sig tags for my land comms (like this or this), and for gift exchanges I make the occasional wallpaper. I've also made art (manips) for big bang fics in the past.

Wow fifteen years. I've been doing this since 2006 and already sounds like a long journey.

I think I started making icons in late 2004/early 2005, but then didn't post any until a year later. Of course looking back they were horrible, but I guess we all have to start somewhere. *g*

Yessss starts are tough! Don't get me started on my layouts... they were very horrid at first hahaha! To be honest, I don't even know how I got so far into this hobby! I guess I just got the call, as with icons etc ^^

I think it took a few months before I learned what aspect ratio was and why you should lock it when you resize an image...

Honestly, as bad as those first attempts were, it was fun making them, and I guess that's why I stuck with it.

Many of my earliest try with icons are totally disastrous ! Urrgghh I cringe now looking at them. I messed up with sharpening and went over board with textures , without knowing how to properly use them in a small canvas like icons first.
Thank God since then I've gotten better at it. Still long way to go.

By reading all the answers , I realize that almost every one has been into icon making since much much longer than I am ! Gosh ! O_o I've a long way to go.

Some of us were where you are ten or fifteen years ago, but that doesn't really mean much. Trust me. I always feel like all my icons look the same because I hardly ever try anything new anymore. Back when I was starting out making icons, I experimented more.

That may or may not be about how long any of us are icon making. For e.g , though I'm a Noob, some times I totally lack ideas so I couldn't experiment . :p

I actually very much like that there are new and experienced makers, and young and old makers, and that we have such a variety here on DW and in this comm, and everyone is nice and friendly and helpful.

Creativity is a great common denominator.

Also, starting new is always so much fun!. You have an interesting journey ahead of you!

Thank you ! Yeah it's true that you've an arc , a graph ahead of you when you start a journey of learning some thing new. I'm for now enjoying it completely and full of enthusiasm . *_*
