Activity #11 - Texturize me!

I've been meaning to do a texture activity for a while, and fueschgast reminded me. Let's make some textures!



Your textures have to be at least 100x100 in size and match one of these prompt pairs:

Black/White + Frame	Noise + Gradient	Shapes + Vibrant
Nature + Muted	Light + Spots	Grunge + Monochrome
Text + Angles	Splatter + Primary Color	Duotone + Pattern

* You can make as many textures as you like
* You may make more than one texture (or even all of them) for the same prompt pair
* Note that it is explicitly allowed to make textures larger than 100x100
* Please submit your textures (and URLs!) to this post, all in one comment (if possible).
* If there are more textures than you would like to submit to a comment, you can submit them to the icon_resources community and link them here.
* Everyone can participate, you don't have to be a member of this community.

Hey!!So I was making these textures today and I'm a bit confused.Do we have to make icons using all nine combinations as above?

No worries.

The challenge this time is to make textures. You don't have to make icons from them.

The textures have to be at least 100x100 in size, but can also be larger. (The examples I posted are only all 100x100 because that looks nicer. :))

Every texture you make has to fit one of these prompt pairs. If you like, you can of course make textures for all nine combinations, but you don't have to.

Ahahha!Can't believe I wrote icons,yes,sorry for the mix up!i made textures!Thanks,these are challenging but hella fun as I've never made textures before!

Duotone + Pattern || Light + Spots || Nature + Muted

Grunge + Monochrome || Noise + Gradient ||


I made these from fabric samples, and screencaps mostly. Star trek discovery had some particularly nice lights. Wonder Woman was also very helpful, and I used screen layers, vibrance, softlight and some sharpening/blur to get some more effects.

...This was my first time even attempting to make textures myself. I used a combination of screencaps and promotional art with a bunch of color/flares/saturation/blur techniques. This was definitely an interesting challenge for me since it was really out of my wheelhouse!

Oooh, those are great! Texture making is pretty different from icon making, isn't it? :)

I especially like the Nature one and the last one.

First time making textures and some turned out great,some not so much but hey,this was fun! I did make almost all of these from scratch in Photoshop CS2. Used my fanarts for the light spots and 3rd vibrant+shapes texture.



B&W+frame / Grunge+monochrome / 2 X Duotone+pattern


3 X Shapes+Vibrant / Nature+muted


2 X Light+spots / Splatter+primary colours / Noise+gradient

These are superb!I adore the pattern+duotone one the most!Nature+muted and noise+gradient are very pretty!!Even the monochrome looks good!

wow from scratch!!! great job!!! i really like nature+muted, but the splatter is very cool an yay grunge. have saved a couple :)

Haha,yeah,photoshop has loads of brushes and shapes which can surprisingly be used to make textures! XD Thanks a lottt!

Wooow, that you made the nature one from scratch is incredible!

I love them all, but I definitely have a weak spot for the second shape and the second pattern. Gorgeous! I'm grabbing all of them.
