Thank you! Painting the hair is more easy than it seems, if you never tried, you should! And you can always undo or erase whatever you don't like, but the main thing to remember, is it looks better when you follow the flow of the hair. I usually set my layer to Hue or Overlay, sometimes I dupplicate it and set it to Dodge at a low oppacity. You can try different layer types to see what works best.

Oh, wow! I love love love the hairpainting in the fourth one! Absolutely gorgeous!

I really like the grunge in the first one, and in general the way you handled the oversaturated red.

~I really had fun experimenting with saturation and crazy coloring, so I ended up making 6 this time. Hope that's okay!

Wow, those look great!

I especially like the second one, with the matching vibrant shades of green, and the fifth, with the orange-red complementing the blue. Gorgeous!

Dammit, I suck at unnatural colors. My whole iconmaking life has always been about giving characters natural colors! Sure, I turn up saturation and adjust the colors in way which make the characters fit in with the suroundings, but never to levels as seen in your examples. I just don't know how to make it vibrant and look good. So then I cheated and looked for caps where the characters were colorfully lit.

It's interesting and fun to see what kind of challenges are hard for people. I love vibrant and manually colored stuff, so that one worked well for me. (Give me close crop or muted coloring and I'll go crazy - as evidenced by the current calendarsquares rumble round. Everything I made for it this week sucked.)

I love what you did with these! The Queequeg is cute and the way you cut him out works really well with the text, too. Perfect! I also really like the third one - those primary colors on his face are great, he almost looks painted!

Oh, I really wouldn't have known that you weren't good at unnatural colors from your icons here! I think the coloring looks great (that third icon looks painted! Gorgeous!). It is awesome that you challenged yourself and also came up with a neat trick to try using the unnatural colors. Great job with all of your icon submissions! ♥

I struggled a bit with this. Getting the subject unnatural colors was relatively easy, but getting them to look natural with any kind of background was hard. :/

I really like your icons here and never would have guessed you were struggling with getting the unnatural icons to look natural with the background! The second one in particular looks like the people are painted and I keep gravitating towards it. Great job! ♥

Jack Rackham from Black Sails, and Jake and Amy from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I fiddled with Amy's for ages but couldn't bring myself to false-color her skin. But I like how equally weird Jake and Amy's facial expressions are. They just go together so well. :)

Very interesting coloring, composition, and lovely use of textures :) The last one is my favorite, I do not like to color faces with unnatural colors either, that's why I made alts for some of mine! I agree that their weird facial expressions go well together. lol
