We haven't had a straight-up technique challenge in a while! And I thought I'd make it a difficult one... :). Are you ready to challenge yourself?

Definition of chiaroscuro

1. pictorial representation in terms of light and shade without regard to color


2. the arrangement or treatment of light and dark parts in a pictorial work of art


3. the interplay of light and shadow on or as if on a surface


4. the quality of being veiled or partly in shadow

That was a really interesting challenge! I'm not sure I managed quite enough dark, but I had fun trying, and so here are mine, 6, all from Once Upon a Time:

Ooooh wow I love the ZYL in the middle. What a great angle! I'm very fond of Shen Wei's expression in the fourth one, too. Chiaroscuro is the ideal way to bring out his lips! <3

Gorgeous set! I love how the light is contrasting with the darkness in the fifth icon, and I love how in the second icon she looks like she's coming out of the shadows. XD

This whole set is amazing. I love how you managed to pick text that goes along really well with the theme. Numbers 1, 4, and 6 are my personal favorites, but they're all beautiful! XD

Awesome! I especially like the third one and the last one. I'm glad you liked the theme, I found it extremely hard.

I really like the glowiness of them! Very beautiful! I especially like the first one (great text work on top of the great lighting), and the last one. It has such an interesting subject/crop.
