Activity #16: Retro Style

Thank you, luminousdaze, for the idea for this challenge! We're going to make retro icons this month!

Retro for the purpose of this activity means "anything older than the year 2000".

This can either mean retro look, style and techniques: like 70s-style coloring, 80s grunge, retro fonts, 20s style black-and-white, etc.
or
retro subjects, like shows from the 90s, shows set in the 80s, movies from the 40s, comics from the 50s,...

You can mix and match techniques and subjects. Any combination is allowed. Here are some examples and resources:

* Please submit your icons (and URLs!) to this post, all in one comment (if possible)
* Everyone can participate, you don't have to be a member of this community

* I will collect all the icons from the comments and make a result post
* Everyone can leave comments on the inspiration and activity result posts
* There is no voting

Well, this whole community is to provide some place for makers on DW, and there is a lot of stuff on LJ already... but having joint activities would be nice, I think.

You mean I should make it possible for people on LJ to participate in all our activities?

Or you mean I should post a link to this activity to the LJ icontalking comm?

That’s true that there is a lot of places for people to make icons on LJ than DW.

Having joint activities might be good because there isn’t much activity happening over at the LJ community lately. That’s more what I was thinking by posting it on LJ, as well as here. But either option would work :)

Just wanted to let you know that I didn't do it this month...

I talked to novindalf and she had nothing against it, but there are other retro challenges on lj this month and I just felt it weird to start with this one.

But I suggested to novindalf that she allow a comment thread on icontalking@lj where people who want to participate from lj can drop their icons under their lj username and then I can add them to the roundup.

I just didn't do it yet this month. But I'll try it next month. It's a little weird, but I guess it could work.

This looks like fun. I missed the psychedelic era challenge at dwstills & I have an idea for an that could make a cool icon if I can manage to execute it.

Sorry, I didn't make anything after all that trouble. Thank you for hosting it anyways. If you ever do a do-over-a-challenge challenge I'll try this one again.

No worries, it was no extra trouble. Everyone had a lot of fun with it and found it a very challenging theme. I just hope you're not too disappointed at not entering.

I hadn't thought of doing any do-over challenges yet, but we're nearing 20, so that would be a good idea, yes!
